Gladys I. "Sandy" Mills (Zelachoski)
Gladys I. “Sandy” (Zelachoski) Mills, 88, of Manor died Monday February 5, 2018. She was born February 1, 1930, in Jeannette a daughter of the late Stephen and Stella (Ruthkoski) Zelachoski. Sandy had a lifelong love affair with her husband Jim; they were rarely apart. She loved her family and her Lord. She was a devoted member of the Cornerstone Ministries in Delmont and she always dressed to the nines for church. A homemaker, she put so much love and effort into all she did, from hanging laundry outside on the line, ironing pillowcases or canning vegetables. Her home was always welcoming, she could whip up dinner for six from her pantry and it would be delicious. She was a pie maker extraordinaire even turning crust trimmings into a family delicacy known as the “Roly Poly”. She loved playing cards, big band music, dancing and studying the Bible. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Harold James “Jim” Mills; two brothers and a sister. Surviving are four children James S. Mills, of New Kensington, Rebecca (Jeff Kuhns) Mills, of Boise, ID, Phyllis Atwater, of Manor and Christine Mills, of New York, NY; grandchildren Kate (Eric) Bell, of Trafford, Timothy (Jessica) Atwater, of Irwin; four great grandchildren Noah, Riley, Eli and Ezra; a sister Genevieve Yennerell, of North Huntingdon. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ott Funeral Home Inc. 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dustin Bingham, her Pastor officiating. Interment will take place in the Brush Creek Cemetery.
