Cody J.  Thornton
Cody J. Thornton, 25, of Irwin died Sunday Sept. 16, 2018 at his home. He was born October 4, 1992, in Jeannette a son of Robert Thornton, of Irwin and Christine (Mullen) Thornton, of Irwin. Cody is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Alvin and Margaret Thornton. In addition to his parents he is survived by two children Gavin Orion Thornton and Cecelia grace Thornton; a sister Kaylynn Thornton, of Ohio; a brother Cameron Tokarsky, of Irwin; maternal grandparents Tom and Sandy Mullen, of North Huntingdon; girlfriend Ashley Elder and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Please remember Cody Jacob in his Pirates hat with his signature smirk. As a kid, he was his happiest on the pitcher’s mound or behind the plate broadcasting his talent to his fans. In adolescence, Cody found most passion in music and poetry. He inspired others through his words and performances. Cody never stopped writing in countless journals to make sense of his thoughts and feelings.. his talents will be passed on to his beloved children; son Gavin and daughter Cecelia. He never loved anything more than them. May all affected find peace and remember him for the good in all he had to offer. He is deeply loved by his friends and family and will sadly be missed. “I’m in shades of gray, Don’t drown in tears, When I’m gone away, I hope you become, All your lifelong dreams, I’m no good with words, But I can strain my voice and sing” Cody Thornton. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ott Funeral Home Inc. 805 Pennsylvania Avenue Irwin. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ray of Hope 409 Coulter Avenue Suite 4 Greensburg. A funeral luncheon will be held at the Hahntown Volunteer Fire Department immediatly following the funeral.
